We Love our Zoo!

We became zoo members this summer. I took Andersen once earlier in the summer with friends, and then we went again as a family early August.
They have beautiful bronze statues of various animals from their zoo all over the zoo grounds. Perfect for taking pictures around.
You can't tell from his face in the picture, but Andersen LOVES trains right now. This one is a safari train that goes around the African exhibit.

The zoo had a wonderful set up for their Polar Bears who had 3 cubs earlier in the year. Here's Andersen and Daddy posing in front of the polar icecap wall mural. You boys don't look cold enough for it to be convincing!
It's kind of hard for Andersen to see the animals because when he sits in his stroller, he's not high enough to see over the fences and barriers. We generally have to lift him up. And, as much as I hope this is somewhat educational for him, he doesn't seem to notice any animal that doesn't move. So we go in search of animals that are being active at that moment, and skip past the ones who are snoozing. Such is the role of parenting, I suppose. Our membership is good until June of 2008, so he'll still have plenty of time next year to see the animals. Maybe by that time he'll be more excited about the zoo.
