September 2008 part 1

Only in Andersen's wildest dreams...
Thomas Day Out 2008 - Lebanon, OH

Being the Thomas freak that he is, we figured Andersen would have a blast at one of the Thomas Day Out events held all over the country at historical railways. We chose one being held within a respectable distance to my parents' house.
The cost of admission was basically for a ticket to ride passenger cars being pulled by a true-size Thomas engine. The route was determined by that particular railway location - ours was a brief trip going straight down the line one way, then back again in reverse (20 minutes total).

The best part though, was watching Andersen go through all the activity tents set up on the grounds surrounding the boarding site of the train. There was a tent for Thomas merchandise (ok, mom and dad went a little crazy there), a toy tent w/ train table and other fun things to play with, a storybook reading/big screen tent where you could sit and listen to a Thomas book being read or watch full episodes of Thomas on the screen, and a meet& greet with Sir Topam Hatt tent. They also had a huge Thomas made all of small lego pieces (you can see Andersen sitting in it), a hay maze, and a tattoo station (he got one on each hand - Henry and Thomas).

We will try to go again in 2009, but maybe we can get away with just going for the activities and not paying for a ticket. Afterall, there's enough fun to have without the ride!
